Blaise was one of our original purchases, whom we had purchased as a pet, along with two other females. It was the purchase of Blaise that triggered a number of established British Shorthair breeders to make contact, in the hope of buying her. We had sometimes talked about the idea of breeding cats, and the serendipitous purchase of Blaise seemed to set things in motion.
Before coming to our home, one of Blaises daughters had been Champion at the Melbourne Royal. Today, Blaise's family is the largest in our program with two daughters retained, Diamond Road Choc au Lait and ANCATS Champion Diamond Road Gypsy, a grand daughter and a great grand daughter.
Tortoiseshells are my absolute favourite, I just adore them. Blaises face and head markings are quite unique in their symmetry...her beautiful face a series of perfect lines, from her cream chin, to her matching white 'moustache' and cream 'Zorro' mask, perfectly topped off by her chocolate covered ears. She is quite the beauty.
Perhaps due to a lack of handling, Blaise herself was never an overly affectionate cat, unless she was nursing kittens at which time she was only too happy to be cuddled. She always loved being a mother, they were always her happiest times. Today, she enjoys her retirement in the sun at our farm, and will even come looking for a belly or a chin rub...I think she has worked out that we love her.
